“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
Music is something that has hit me so hard that once I got my hands on a guitar for the first time, there was absolutely no looking back. The musical mania in me began at a very tender age of 14. It was then that I learned to stern the strings of my guitar to perfection. Through the years I’ve played in various bands.‘Tomorrows people’ was my first ever venture into live performances. In 1995, I joined a hugely popular band L’Ace where I hit the keys for ten years. 13 years ago, I decided to break away from the band and begin a solo journey as a one-man musician, JUS’ LEO.‘I like to be my own boss’. I performed regularly in numerous hotels all over goa and also at weddings, parties, conferences and other occasions. Through the grapevine, the news of my capability as a musician and a performer as Jus’ Leo blossomed. My notes spread across the country and today, all over the world. I have performed for the Goa Tourism for promotional events in Aurangabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Baroda etc. Internationally I set the stage ablaze making people in Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, France, Spain, Oman and England dance gracefully to mytunes. Performing for the World Trade Mart for 3 years in Europe was a dream come true.
In 2011, Kenzie joined me on stage as a crooner and later began playing the percussions too. Today we call ourselves JUS’ LEO N ZIE. Judging the crowd and satisfying them with the kind of music they wish to hear is a magical talent that we possess and we make sure that we do our job to the best of our abilities. We sing in an array of unconventional languages like Portuguese, Brazilian, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi and Marathi, besides English and Konkani. Known for our ballroom music comprising of Waltz, Great Waltz, Jive, Cha ChaCha, Salsa and Tango numbers we also keep ourselves updated with the latest music that is hitting the charts.
As a duo band we perform at weddings, and other private parties. We play at restaurants like Souza Lobo – calangute, The Fishermans wharf – Calangute, The Goan Village – cavellossim, Route 66 – Panjim, etc. “We are rather obliged to perform at the Fisherman’s Wharf in Hyderabad, almost every three months. Also, promoting our motherland at a national and international level was a joyous experience! Annually we make our way to London to perform for an Easter Ball that attracts many Goans, Englishmen, Irish and Scottish folks.” Kenzie proudly states.
We study our audience well and cleverly adjust the tempo of our music to suit their ears and feet! We don’t just sing, we ENTERTAIN. We make sure that our stage presence is so vibrant that the audience would find it difficult to get their eyes off the stage. As a band we promise to leave no stone unturned to please our clients.
